天津爆炸事件昨日進入救援第5天，據官方統計，死亡人數增至114人，其中未確認身分的有60人，受傷住院698人，失蹤人數70人。神隱多天的天津市副市長何樹山昨日表示，17日傍晚即可將危化物全部處理掉。不過，爆炸核心區最近3天可能出現局部雷陣雨，溶於水的氰化物將會逸散導致新汙染。
此外，除了官方救援力量，高調行善、評價兩極的大陸企業家陳光標也派遣公司員工與車輛前往救援，成為現場唯一一支民間大型機械救援力量。陳光標還因在現場吸入不明氣體，導致胸悶乏力，送醫後被診斷為「中度中毒」，他住院時仍強調將繼續支持救援工作。

據天津氣象局預報，從17日傍晚開始，一連3天，爆炸事故區域將出現局部雷陣雨。天津市環保局總工程師包景嶺表示，由於爆炸核心區還有地面尚未清理，降雨較大的話，氰化物可能遇水產生劇毒物質「氰化氫」，但它本身溶於水，在酸性條件下會逸散。目前正嚴密監控中，對於降雨後的汙染處置也有預案。
